Guest Reviews for Lakeside Chalets

Email from Sarah Crawshaw, who visited for a few days in October 2009:

Morning Kate.

We had a throughly enjoyable stay. The cabins are in a fantastic setting and give you all the benefits of outdoor living but with the added bonus of having a warm, relaxing cabin with a very comfortable bed and very well appointed bathroom.

The area was beautiful and felt a world away from the busy London despite only being a couple of hours flight. The lake right by the cabins was lovely and perfect for swimming / water sports / walking / etc... The nearby villages were stunning and offered all the activities / amenities needed.

I would most definitely return, just for longer next time!

Thank you.

Sarah

Email from Julie Swart, who visited for a fortnight in August 2009:

Hi Kate,

The chalet is in a beautiful spot on a hillside over looking a lake. The chalet is neat and perfect for a family. The lake has some lovely walks on easily accessible pathways through the woods surrounding the lake. A short walk from the chalet is a sandy beach. The beach is ideal for families with small children as there are lifeguards throughout the day, except during the lunch break. There are no waves and the shallow area is cordoned off. For the more adventurous there is a small island in the middle of the lake you can swim out to. There are canoes, pedal boats and other items for hire at the lake. There are shops a few minutes drive away. There is a restaurant on the road below the chalet, the staff were very helpful as we struggled through our ‘French’ via the phrase book. There are many tourist attractions in the area. We had a very peaceful and enjoyable stay. Take along a few DVDs and games for the evening if you don’t intend going out.

Email from Tim Bennett, who visited for a fortnight in August 2009:

Hi Kate,

In August last year, I visited Treignac with an assortment of teenage sons, nieces and nephews and had a fantastic time. The chalets were very comfortable and well situated, set on the side of a hill overlooking Lac des Barriousses. In the evenings it was relaxing to sit on the porch, sipping a glass of wine, chatting and gazing down on the lake.

It is no more than a 5 minute walk to the lakeside beach where you can swim or hire canoes or bikes. You can also grab a bite to eat and a glass of wine or beer from the outdoor restaurants which are open until late. There is also plenty to see and do in the area, from canoeing to horse riding and Treignac itself is a beautiful medieval town and well worth a visit. I would strongly recommend a stay in the Chalets du Lac.

Regards

Tim

Email from Tina Lloyd, who visited for a week in August 2009:

My family and I would like to thank Kate for a lovely holiday at her Lakeside Chalet. It was in a wonderful location with a short walk to the swimming area of the lake. We enjoyed many days on the sandy beach with the children enjoying the playground, water , hired pedaloes and kayaks. The chalet was clean and well equipped and nestled in the trees keeping it cool in the heat of the day but not obscuring the view of the lake. We had some fanatstic daytrips from the chalet with it being in the COrreze region which boast 6 of the most beautiful villages in France, one of which being 5 minutes drive away, Treignac. I would recommend a slightly longer journey to Collange la Rouge ( a must see, absolutley gorgeous), as I say the location of the chalet is perfect for this. My husband and I having been on many european holidays with two children consider our holiday at this chalet in this location our best yet!

Guest Reviews for The Old Granary

Email from Jane and Darren Barr, who came in August 2010:

Hi Kate
We had the most amazing time at The Old Granary - each day we still talk about our time spend there and what a beautiful part of France you live in - you are very lucky! The countryside was stunning, so quiet and peaceful and the location of the Old Granary was just perfect, tucked away yet in easy reach of Chamberet - we really enjoyed the surrounding farms and your neighbours - who were all very jolly and pleasant whenever we went walking or cycling around Joulageix. The Old Granary itself was just perfect - we loved everything about it including Emmy and her family, the ducks and the visiting hedgehogs. The garden was wonderful with the sun loungers, the pool and of course the amazing views of the valley. Your hospitality was very relaxed and friendly and the whole booking procedure so easy and efficient. All in all our time at the Old Granary far exceeded our expectations and will always be a treasured holiday memory - (infact we really wish we could come back and live there!).

Once again a huge big thank you

Jane and Darren

Cordialement, Martine LeTailleur

Email from Emma Pemberton, who visited for a week in June 2010:

Dear Kate

We had such a lovely peaceful stay at the Old Granary and the surrounding countryside was so beautiful to walk in with plenty of wildlife to see. We especially enjoyed the company of the ducks and cats in the garden, dipping in the pool and having barbeques.
How did the ducklings turn out? Sad we missed them!
Definitely hope to come and stay again one day.
Thanks very much for your hospitality, we felt very welcome and will definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Emma.

Email from David and Judith Morelli, who visited for a few days in September 2009:

Hi Dave and Kate,
Just been looking at our holiday photo's from our stay at The old Granary and it brought back great memories of our 2nd stay with you. We rarely revisit one of our holiday locations but we love everything about the place. The Old Granary is absolutely perfect for those who like peace and quiet in wonderful surroundings.
The open plan of the accomodation is ideal and we loved the log burner on a night time. The nearest town of Treignac must be one of the prettiest in France with unspoiled buildings and charming folk. We have told many people in England and in France about the place! Judith and I would love to come home to The Old Granary after work each day, and the neighbours are not bad either.
We certainly intend to stay with you again.

A bientot j'espere,
Dave and Judith.

We had a lovely stay at The Old Granary. Situated in beautiful Limousin countryside, the accommodation has a great home from home feel. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay a comfortable one – there’s even a splash pool for the hot days and a big selection of DVDs and books for the rainy days! The Old Granary is a perfect base from which to explore the local region – we would definitely recommend and will certainly be going back.

Email from Barbara Myhill, who visited for a week in August 2009:

The Old Granary was ideal for a quiet and relaxing holiday or a base for exploring. It was well equipped and had all the small essentials required for a comfortable stay. You both made us very welcome and so did the cats and ducks!!!
Lots of lovely walks and scenery to enjoy. A visit to the nearby lake was a refreshing change and well worth a visit.
I would not hesitate in returning for another holiday in the future and would recommend the Gite or the chalets to anyone else.

Take Care
Barbara

Email from Jean Partridge, who visited for a week in May 2009:

Hi Kate

My mother, who is 87, and I, stayed in the Old Granary in May last year. The Granary was most comfortable, we had everything we needed for a perfect break. We had lovely weather, so were able to make use of the pool and sitting out to eat. The evenings were wonderful with a superb view over the valley and such a peaceful and beautiful setting. We would recommend it to anyone.

Regards
Jean

Email from Paula and Simon Ruffley, who visited for a weekend in June 2008:

Hi Kate and Dave,

Just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed our short stay in the Old Granary.

It's a wonderful self-contained little home - great for the two of us over the long weekend and it's right in the middle of such a beautiful area. You've managed to make the rooms lovely and the bathroom is just perfect. We loved the splash pool, fantastic on a hot day!

You made us feel so welcome, but left us to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and the Old Granary had everything we needed.

Thank you both and we hope to see you again soon.
