WATERSPORTS - JOUEZ DANS L'EAUIf you are feeling lively, the area boasts several water sport activities, such as waterskiing on the nearby lakes, rafting, kayaking and canoeing on the rivers Vézère, Vienne and Dordogne as well as on the various lakes, where windsurfing is also a popular choice. HORSE RIDING - L'EQUITATIONTwo local equestrian centres cater for learners and experienced riders alike, both of whom can go trekking on the peaceful woodland trails. Il y a deux centres équestre: vous pouvez être débutant ou avancé.
MOUNTAIN BIKING - LE VTTFor the mountain bikers amongst you, there are several VTT trails in the vicinity with some ‘Black’ runs to test the most seasoned mountain biker. WALKING - LA RANDONNEEThe tranquil Corrèze is a walker’s paradise and Treignac is situated on the GR440 and G46, major official walking routes of France, so you will be able to explore to your heart’s content the unspoilt, rolling hills and forests of the Corrèze. GR440 et GR46 traversent la Corrèze et il y a beaucoup d'autres petits chemins dans les forêts pour les randonneurs.
FISHING - LA PECHECorrèze offers 5000km of rivers and streams, plus 4000 hectares of lakes and ponds, offering the fisherman carp, bream, tench, pike, perch and trout amongst other varieties. Lac des Barriousses, Lac Viam and Peyrissac are very close to Treignac. Lac des Barriousses (pictured right) is the lake overlooked by the chalets and is 101 hectares. With it's borders of woodland, rock face and prairies, Treignac's lake will satisfy any fisherman. Motor boats are authorised. Lac Viam is a magnificent lake of 180 hectares, situated about 5km from the chalets. It is easily accessible and very peaceful with gentle sloping banks, where all types of fishing are possible. Motor boats are authorised. Peyrissac lake is 30 hectares. There are few access points as this is in a very rural area and is therefore not overpopulated by fishermen. It is perfect for those who enjoy a little exploration. Boats are prohibited. Fishing permits are obtainable in Treignac and are compulsory. GOLF - LE GOLFEThere are four golf courses within an hour's drive of Treignac, two of which have 18 holes and two 9 holes. They are open all year round. Pictured left is the 9 hole course at Peyrelevade, practically the most northern point of the Corrèze. Il y a 4 terrains de golf en Corrèze.
CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING - LE SKI DE FONDBonnefond: Only 23km (less than 1/2 hour drive) from Treignac, the altitude is about 900m and there are 4 cross-country pistes of 3-11km. Meymac: Just 42km (40 mins drive) from Treignac, the altitude is 976m and there are 4 cross-country pistes of 2-12kms. Saint-Setiers: 44km (40 mins drive) from Treignac, the altitude is between 850m and 950m. There are 5 cross-country pistes of 3-20kms. Une heure et demie en voiture et vous arriverez au Mont-Dore - 1050m - où vous pouvez faire du ski. Ici à Bonnefond et Meymac vous pouvez faire du ski de fond.

RESTAURANTS/CAFES
There are some very good restaurants in the area, one of which is just near the chalets, overlooking the lake and there are several cafe-bars in Treignac (one pictured here) which are very friendly and are super for just sitting, taking in the atmosphere and watching the world go by. Between April and October the friendly beach bar on the lake serves great hot meals and snacks all day.Détendez-vous dans les bons restaurants et cafés de Treignac et ses environs.
TREIGNAC - the local town, is crossed by the River Vézère and lies at the foot of the Monédières.
Within the narrow streets surrounding the 11th century church, there are several interesting medieval houses.
The market hall was originally built in the 12th century then was rebuilt in the 15th century after being destroyed by an unpaid creditor of one of the town's noblemen.
Also don't miss the Chapel of the Penitents, which was built as a refuge from the seething masses of Protestants in the 17th century.
The lovely old 14th century stone bridge with its three arches crosses the River Vezere, which tumbles along the bottom of Treignac. Un des plus beaux villages de France, Treignac est traversée par la Vézère et se trouve aux pieds des Monédières et du Plateau de Millevaches.

 TOURS DE MERLE - The home of an eleventh century family, the Tours de Merle are an absolute must, for the historical value and for the beauty of the site. Throughout the summer there are "Son et Lumière" shows and even outside the main season, the guided tours continue. 1 1/2 hour's drive from Treignac. Un château de la 11ième siècle. Son et lumière en été et hors saison.
 ARGENTAT - a pretty little town set on the banks of the River Dordogne, which flows through the Corrèze. 1 1/2 hour's drive from Treignac. Un joli village, traversé par la Dordogne.
 THE PLATEAU DE MILLEVACHES - perfect for nature lovers with its abundance of ponds and marshland, birds and wildlife. - parfait pour ceux qui aiment la nature.
 TURENNE - Between the remains of the castle and the walls, a square keep and the round tower still survive from days of yore! Rich sandstone mansions lean up against the fortress. This town is characterised by its height and unique position on top of a cliff. 1 hour's drive from Treignac. Un très beau château à visiter.
 GIMEL LES CASCADES - 3 spectacular waterfalls, tumbling through the gorge are really worth a visit. 50 minutes' drive from Treignac. 3 cascades magnifiques. Il faut absolumment les voir.
 CHATEAU DE VAL - this imposing fortress with six towers and turrets is one of the best conserved and most remarkable castles in the area. 1 hour 20 mins' drive from Treignac. Un des châteaux de la France qui est le meilleur conservé.
 COLLONGES LES ROUGES - ancient unusual red stone village, steeped in history. 1 hour's drive from Treignac. Un village de pierres rouges, peu commun.
